Corneal Infection How Can Corneal Abrasions Lead To Blindness?

How can corneal Abrasions lead to blindness? - corneal infection

How serious a case of corneal abrasions, if left untreated, can lead to blindness?
What are some situations in which a case is likely from this grave? I've heard that can cause abrasion of the cornea after infection to blindness, is that true?

Most corneal abrasions heal quickly, but there are times when the normal healing process can be complicated by an infection --

The example that comes to mind is an ulcerative keratitis, which can lead to blindness. It is caused by a bacterium called Pseudomonas aeruginosa, usually harmless, but when it penetrates the cornea and allowed to remain there (I think, put a lens on them), then it can very quickly (24-48 hours lead ), infections and blindness.

This is why people are prohibited to the cornea using contact lenses. This is the only direct cause - as they heal very quickly. Hope this helps!
